报告题目:Recent progress on the hydrodynamic stability at high Reynolds number

摘要:Since Reynolds's experiments in 1883, hydrodynamic stability at high Reynolds number has always been an important and very active field in the fluid mechanics. This field is mainly concerned with how the laminar flows become unstable and transition to turbulence. To understand this transition mechanism, an important open question proposed by Trefethen et al (Science 1993) is to study the transition threshold for laminar flows, which is concerned with how much disturbance will lead to the instability of the flow and the dependence of disturbance on the Reynolds number. In this talk, I will introduce recent important progress on transition threshold problem for the Couette flow and Kolmogorov flow. It has been showed that 3-D lift-up, boundary layer, inviscid damping and enhanced dissipation have played an important role for the hydrodynamic stability.
报告人简介:北京大学博雅特聘教授,北京大学数学科学学院副院长,主要从事偏微分方程的理论研究,在流体力学方程的自由边值问题、Navier-Stokes方程的适定性和稳定性理论、以及液晶中的数学问题等方面取得了一系列重要的研究成果。他已在CPAM, CMP, ARMA, JFA等著名数学刊物上发表学术论文90余篇,引用次数进2000次。 2011年入选教育部新世纪优秀人才,2012年入选中组部首批青年拔尖人才支持计划,2014年获国家杰出青年科学基金,2017年入选教育部长江学者教授和科技部中青年科技领军人才。
